PPL Electric Utilities is seeking proposals from competitive electricity suppliers to provide a portion of the electricity the company will need in 2010 to fulfill its obligation as provider of last resort.  This procurement will seek Hourly Spot Market Supply for Large Commercial and Industrial customers.

As a provider of last resort, PPL Electric Utilities must purchase and provide generation supply for customers who don’t choose alternative suppliers. The company serves 1.4 million customers in 29 counties of central and eastern Pennsylvania.

The company is seeking contracts now for Hourly Spot Market Supply for large commercial and industrial customers for the 2010 period.  The total supply sought for these customers is approximately 1,800 megawatts of full requirements sport market service.

NERA Economic Consulting has been hired as an independent third-party to manage the RFP process.
